335pp inc colour Frontis and 15 other colour plates as well as a great many b+w illustrations - Undated, but appears to be 1st half of 20th Century. Covers (red cloth with blind-stamped title and vignette (repeated from b+w illustration on title page) to front board and gilt title to spine) are soiled and worn with bumped corners. Top edge tinted red. Child's name scrawled to FEP. Split at front joint with foxing and light soiling throughout. All plates present (except where otherwise noted) and accounted for.

According to Bob Speel's art history website, Stratton's illustrations (produced between 1891 and 1925) "tend to the romantic, and in some cases show a Pre-Raphaelite influence, most especially in the manner of Arthur Hughes. In other pictures, Stratton uses swirling hair and cloaks to give a satisfyingly art nouveau style."
