Unpaginated album of 156 b&w photographs of Oxford during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, described in captions and introduction by two people eminently qualified to do so. Sir John Betjeman, the UK's Poet Laureate from 1972 to 1984, also just happened to be a student of architecture, especially that of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Vaisey, on the other hand, was librarian at Oxford University's Bodley Library from 1986 to 1996, having worked there for 30 years. He has also been President of the Society of Archivists, and has been a Visiting Professor, Fellow, and Lecturer at many universities and colleges, especially in the US. And he was the author of a standard work on 18th-century social history, and the only person ever to hold the title of Bodley's Librarian Emeritus. DJ (in protective sleeve) is immaculate except for library catalogue number to spine and taped attachments to EPs. Book and textblock are immaculate except for standard ex-lib markings and stamps.
