311pp, inc index and many b&w and colour photos and illustrations - This is the sixth edition of this classic food inspection handbook, originally published about a decade earlier. Subtitled "A Practical Gude for Medical Officers of Health, Meat Inspectors, Army Officers, Students and Others", the author was Medical Officer of Health for Cheshire and a Vice President of the Society of Medical Officers of Health.

Covers (green cloth with gilt publisher's logo on front and gilt titles on spine) is sunned on the spine and has some rubbing and spotting to front and a few "bleached" spots to the rear. Minimal edgewear and slight bumping to corners. Text block is tight, but has underlining and marginal and interlinear notes throughout. Fore-edge of half-title page is torn at lower half. Colour frontis (Tuberculosis in Cattle) with tissue guard.. Frontis recto has presentation inscription dated 1912, which is rather odd since the date on the title page is 1913,
Vacher also wrote A Healthy Home , Defects in Plumbing and Drainage Works , and Dangerous Infectious Diseases ,
