171pp inc index and b&w illustrations - In her introduction, the author notes, "...We believe that work, any work, should be reduced to a minimum. The following selection of recipes gives us the chance to raise our every-day cooking to haute cuisine." As with de Pomiane's Cooking in 10 Minutes , it must be remembered they were written just after WWII and lifestyles were very much busier and increasingly both the husband and wife were now at work. Cookery book writers apparently saw the need to cater to this need for speed. The covers (grey cloth with a blue line drawing of a housewife, dressed in a pinnie, juggling a bunch of kitchen utensils on the front and titles in blue to the spine) has a slightly faded "frame" around the edges and the edges are bumped. Text block is clean and tight except for some foxing throughout. See feature article about this book and other subjects on our website and clicking on the FEATURES link.
