288pp inc colour frontis and b&w photos throughout - The Daily Telegraph (London) described this book as "Virtually three books rolled into one. It is the story of a prisoner of war who successfully escaped only at his third attempt; the story of an explorer who reached the Forbidden City only after interminable adventures; and the story of a man who lived for years in Lhasa and became a tutor to the Dalai Lama." There have to be almost more copies of this book on the Net than any other, But this one is in VG+ condition with blue cloth covers with gilt titles to the spine. The book is immaculate except for a gift inscription dated 1955 on FEP. DJ (Now in protective sleeve) is also in VG+ condition except for a but if edgewear at the top and it is NOT price-clipped.
