338pp inc index and four-page article on Everyman's Library series, of which this is No 321. Thirty-three essays on a wide variety of subjects from "The Pleasure of Painting" to "The Fear of Death". Hazlitt (1778 - 1830), writer, perhaps best remembered for his humanistic essays and literary criticism. He is considered "the greatest English literary critic after Samuel Johnson", according to Wikipedia. "Indeed, Hazlitt's writings and remarks on Shakespeare's plays and characters are rivaled only by those of Johnson in their depth, insight, originality, and imagination," the Wikipedia article continues. Covers (light orange cloth with blind stamped Everyman's Library logo on front and gilt titles and scroll-work decoration to spine) are soiled, edgeworn, has pencil marks on on the rear, is sunned on the spine and has a felt tip pen library code on the front and spine. Front cover also has a "bubble" between the cloth and the board. Inside the book is clean and tight except for a few standard ex-lib markings and stamps.
