856pp, inc index. 1st Ed. Profusely illustrated with b&w drawings, photos etc. A history of the world from 4,000 BC to 1932. Undated, but appears to be mid '30s. Sir John Alexander Hammerton (1871-1949), was a writer and prolific editor (of such works as Harmsworth's Universal Encyclopedia, A Popular History of the Great War, Peoples of All Nations, Our Wonderful World, The New Popular Educator, and The Punch Library of Humour etc. His early life was spent in Scotland and worked most of his career for Lord Northcliffe and The Amalgamated Press in London" Blind-stamped leatherette covers with gilt text to spine and headbands. Very minor shelfwear. Slight soiling to page edges. Marbleised end-papers front and back. An immaculate volume. A large and heavy volume which may require additional shipping cost.
