Our Feature Articles and Other Bits and Pieces

At Star Dot Star Books we provide articles about various authors, book collecting, book-buying and book-selling issues and other subjects we hope you'll find interesting.

1 McKenna, Stephen
The Confessions of a Well-Meaning Woman
Cassell & Co Ltd, London, 1922
Reprint, Decorative Cloth, Very Good, No Jacket

301pp - McKenna (1888-1967) was British-born and Oxford educated. He launched his writing career in 1912 with the publication of 'The Reluctant Lover'. He was an inveterate traveller and his travels took him to Africa, South America and the Caribbean during the 1920s and 1930s.

Some of his other books include: "Sonia," (1917), "The Education of Eric Lane," (1921), and "The Magic Quest," (1933).

The influence of McKenna's writing can't be overstated. C. S. Lewis, in an American paperback edition of The Screwtape Letters, says this book influenced his writing of The Tapes.

Covers (green cloth with dark green titles and Art Nouveau (with a dash of Art Deco) decor to front board and sunned spine) are edgeworn, soiled and rubbed, with bumped corners. Textblock is clean and tight except for some tanning of pages, crease to FEP and tape ghosts to FPDP and FEP.
