xvi, 349pp - Maugham's diary/journal from 1892 through 1944 giving the reader insights into the mind of a tremendously successful author. Maugham (1874 - 1965) spent the first ten years of his life in Paris. He had early in his adult life spent some time at a hospital toying with the idea of becoming a doctor, but his first novel, "Liza of Lambeth", published in 1897, was such a success he decided to become a full-time writer. "Of Human Bondage" was his first major work/success and four years later came publication of "The Moon and Sixpence" which solidified his reputation as a writer of novels and the success of his "The Trembling of a Leaf: Little Stories of the South Sea Islands" in 1921 expanded his fame into the world of short stories. In 1927 Maugham settled in the South of France and lived there until his death in 1965. (Information from the FantasticFiction UK website. Micklewright, Robert, xii, 247pp including author's preface - Undated, but late 1960s. One volume of Heron's series, "The Complete Works of W. Somerset Maugham". Maugham (1874 - 1965) spent the first ten years of his life in Paris.
