448pp inc index, frontis portrait of GBS and 7 other b&w plates - This is the greatly-celebrated and still considered the standard work of biography of GBS. It was written with Shaw's close cooperation. Pearson (1887-1964). After two years in London's financial centre, The City, he went onto the stage. He saw active service in WWI before resuming his acting career until 1931. At that point he abandoned acting to write. Focussing on biographies of the great artistes, he wrote about Gilbert & Sullivan, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, and Oscar Wile. Covers (yellow cloth with gilt titles to green label on spine) very lightly soiled to edges, and very lightly edgeworn. DJ (now in protective sleeve) is very well-worn with fading, edgewear and chips, in addition, the top 2.25-inches of the spine, ie the title, is detached, but present and repaired. Textblock has tanned pages but o/w clean and tight All plates present (except where otherwise noted) and accounted for.

Covers (yellow cloth with green flower motif to front and spine and red titles to spine) is soiled to edges, lightly edgeworn and has bumped corners. Textblock has tanning to EPs but otherwise clean and tight.
