Kogan, E., 613pp plus b+w frontis portrait of the author and many b+w plates - Profusely illustrated translation by Helen Altschuler, this is a volume in the publisher's "Library of Selected Soviet Literature" series. Gorky pseudonym of Alexei Maximovich Peshkov, was arguably the founder of Soviet literature. The book deals with the failure of Russia's middle classes in the form of three generations of a small-town family of textile manufacturers, the Artomonovs, in Pre-Revolutionary Russia. Covers (scarlet cloth with faded gilt titles to front and spine) are very slightly worn and rubbed. Textblock is clean and tight except for slight tanning of pages and small water stain to top spine-corner of pages (not affecting text). 005892 Price:
