iv, 256pp inc colour frontis and 3 other colour plates - Undated but appears to be ca 1910. Fenn (1831 - 1909) was a prolific writer of boys’ adventure stories as well as serialised books for the various boys’ periodicals. Many of his stories, like this one, "incorporate natural history information in an instructive way," according to the biographical note in the book. Covers (purple cloth with blind-stamped decor and titles to the front board and gilt titles to the sunned spine) have bumped corners, and slight edgewear. Textblock has inked prior owner's name to FPDP, FEP has thin strip cut from outer edge of page, pages are lightly tanned with minimal foxing. All plates present and accounted for.

384pp plus 8-page publisher's catalogus - Undated but Sunday School prize certificate from City Road Wesleyan SS is dated 1922 and publisher's catalogue is also dated 1922. Fenn (1831 - 1909) was a prolific writer of boys’ adventure stories as well as serialised books for the various boys’ periodicals.
