189pp including several in-line drawings by Mortelmans - Durrell (1925-1995) who was born in India, was an author and naturalist. And he was the brother of the novelist, Lawrence Durrell. Perhaps more importantly he was a rebel who believed zoos had a responsibility to save species from extinction. This volume discusses his life and career post-WWII when he joined Whipsnade Zoo as a junior or student keeper in 1945. DJ (not clipped, but is attached to covers by an adhesive-backed clear mylar-type protective sleeve). Book is clean and tight except for tanning of pages.

254pp (Bafut Beagles) and 199pp (Luggage) inc many line drawings by Thompson - Durrell (1925-1995) who was born in India, was an author and naturalist. Perhaps more importantly he was a rebel who believed zoos had a responsibility to save species from extinction. This volume contains two books. The first is an account of his 1949 expedition to Mamfe and Bafut, British Cameroon (now Cameroon) when he was on an independent animal collecting mission for British zoos. The second sees him almost a decasde later, 1957 again in Bafut, on a mission to collect animals for his own zoo. Covers (red cloth with gilt titles to lightly sunned spine) has two or three small faded spots on front board. Textblock is clean and tight.
