A general overview is given by Guthrie in 20 chapters of the history of medicine from its "genesis" in prehistory, through early Greek, mediaeval and renaissance medicine and on to "the rise of specialism and of preventive medicine". Covers (scarlet cloth with gilt titles to lightly sunned spine) is a bit soiled and has lightly bumped corners. Maps to EPs. Textblock clean and tight.
