403pp inc b+w frontis portrait of Chaucer and other b+w illustrations plus four-page publisher's catalogue - One volume of the publisher's "Universal Library of Standard Authors" series. Undated, but The British Library estimates the series was published from 1872-80. The Chaucer section includes an introduction and notes by Thomas Wright; "Canterbury Tales", "The Cuckow and Nightingale", "The Assembly of Foules", minor poems and a glossary. The section on Crabbe includes a dedication, preface and the following tales: "The Dumb Orators", "The Parting Hour", "The Gentleman Farmer", "Arabella", etc. and his "The Borough". Covers (green leatherette with bright gilt titles to spine) are lightly soiled and edgeworn with bumped corners. FEP torn away (often indicating ex-lib, but this volume shows no other such indications), otherwise clean and tight with some tanning and light foxing.
