Throughout the book I have tried to give due prominence to the geographical factors -- in the earlier periods, to the physical geography of England as it was, and in the later, to the English consequences of the discovery of the outer world by Europeans." Covers (brown buckram with gilt titles to the spine) are rubbed, soiled and very lightly edgeworn. Textblock has some underlining and marginalia in very light pencil and some soiling. Owner's name in ink to FEP, previous owner's name inked out on FEP.
