368pp inc an advert for an apparently matched set of Henty's books, b+w frontis and seven other monochrome plates by Browne (All present and accounted for), plus a 32-page publisher's catalogue - Henty (George Alfred, 1832-1902) was a prolific author of 122 books, mostly novels for children in the historic/adventure genre. His works include "Out on the Pampas", "The Young Buglers", "With Clive in India" and "Wulf the Saxon". He also wrote adult novels and non-fiction and lots of stories for such children's magazines as "Boy's Own Paper" and "The Girl's Realm". This novel was originally published 27 years earlier. Covers (red buckram with tw-colour illustration and gilt titles to front board and spine) are lightly soiled and rubbed and the rear board has some splotchy fading. Textblock has prior owner's name and address rubber stamped to FPDP and FEP, and some foxing throughout. AEG
